Protecting coastline near Fosso Pilocco on the Potenza River
The Marche Region signed a Memorandum of Understanding for operations in defense of public soil and mitigating hydrogeological risk in regional territory.
Measures to counter beach erosion caused by reduced supplies of river sediment and reduce wave energy along the coast were adopted. Artificial beach replenishment was also performed. Work along the coast between the current mouth of the Potenza River and the mouth of Fosso Pilocco between the towns of Porto Recanati and Potenza Picena (MC) consisted in protecting approx. 3 km of coastal railway infrastructure on the Bologna-Lecce line with rigid structures, emerging sea cliffs, and replenishing beach areas.
