The new port of Crotone encloses a body of water of about 1,100,000 sq m with depths ranging from 6 to 12m. The works done for its protection consisted in constructing an upper breakwater pier 1,725 m long and an submerged breakwater 920 m long and building a new southern wharf 565 m long and a 100,000 sq m shipyard.
