Building 102, ISPRA Joint Research Center – Varese
Construction of a new building at the ISPRA Joint Research Center, Varese.
Building 102 was built to host the Citizen’s Protection and Security Institute at the European Community’s Joint Research Center (JRC) in Varese.
Consisting of two wings four and five stories high positioned around an inner courtyard, the building vaunts a transparent polymer roof. This large roofed area reduces heat loss and improves natural ventilation while illuminating the rooms facing the courtyard
As a Near Zero Emission Building (NZEB), the building meets high environmental requirements and offers renewable energy production from a state-of-the-art geothermal plant and photovoltaic panels with international certification for environmental, economic and social sustainability
