Project Description

Expansion of aircraft apron at Palermo Airport

Enlarging the aircraft apron was preparatory to the subsequent works foreseen by the Falcone e Borsellino Palermo International Airport Development Plan and permitted immediate improvements in the utilization of overall airport infrastructure and the management of ground traffic during aircraft taxiing and parking operations.
In addition to expanding aircraft parking and maneuvering area and creating space for exclusive use by cargo traffic vehicles, the project was completed by new horizontal and vertical signage, the addition of six new Light Towers to the existing system, and the implementation and upgrading of AVL (illuminated signage) systems.
